How trike consignment works
We handle the sales process for accepted trikes, from agreed preparation and listing to buyer inquiries.
Tell us what you have
Start with the short form. Check your confirmation email for photo instructions, then send a few pictures with your full name.
Review the plan together
We’ll discuss a realistic selling range, agreed costs and acceptance. We can help arrange pickup through a third-party carrier.
Let us help find the buyer
We prepare and market your accepted trike. When it sells, your share is calculated under your written agreement.
Which trikes can I submit?
We’re especially interested in recent electric-assist recumbent trikes. Tell us the brand, model, year, equipment and condition so we can review yours.
Every trike is considered individually. Please wait for written acceptance and transport instructions before bringing or shipping it to us.
Prefer a purchase offer?
In some cases, Laid Back Cycles may offer to purchase a trike outright after review. Availability and terms depend on the individual trike.
A purchase offer is separate from consignment. Submitting the form does not guarantee an offer or immediate trade-in credit.

Recumbent trike consignment FAQs
How is my payout calculated?
Approved direct costs come out once. Then we split the remaining net proceeds.
Qualifying LBC upgrade: You receive 65%; LBC receives 35%. We confirm your upgrade’s eligibility in your written agreement.
Consignment only: You receive 55%; LBC receives 45%.
A simple example
$8,000 selling price − $1,000 approved costs = $7,000 net proceeds
With a qualifying upgrade:
You receive $4,550 · LBC $2,450
Consignment only:
You receive $3,850 · LBC $3,150
Illustration only, not an estimate of your trike’s value. Actual results depend on the sale price and approved costs.
We can help arrange pickup. Agreed transport and preparation costs are deducted before the proceeds are split. Direct costs may include packing, pickup or inbound shipping, inspection, cleaning, tune-up labor, parts, repairs and selling/payment fees. Each cost is approved in writing and deducted only once, before the split. Sales tax and buyer-paid outbound shipping are excluded from the merchandise selling price. Your agreement explains payout timing and any withdrawal or unsold-trike costs.
Where can I sell my recumbent trike?
You can submit your recumbent trike to Laid Back Cycles in Sacramento, California for consignment review. If accepted, we handle the agreed preparation, listing and buyer inquiries, and you receive your share after the trike sells. Start with the short form and photos.
Can I trade in my recumbent trike?
Our main program helps you sell on consignment and use the proceeds toward an upgrade after the sale. We may also consider an outright purchase separately, case by case. There is no guaranteed instant trade-in credit.
My spouse passed away. What can I do with their recumbent trike?
We’re sorry for your loss. You don’t need to know all the trike’s details to ask for help. Start with what you know in the short form, then follow the photo instructions in your confirmation email. We can help identify the trike and discuss whether consignment is an option. Before accepting it for sale, we’ll confirm who is authorized to act for its owner.
How do I upgrade my recumbent trike?
Tell us about your current trike and what you’d like in your next one. We’ll review whether your trike fits the program and discuss an upgrade through LBC. A qualifying upgrade gives you 65% of net consignment proceeds after approved direct costs. Those proceeds are available after your current trike sells. Explore recumbent trikes for your next ride.
When do I get paid?
Consignment proceeds become available after the trike actually sells, under the payout timing in your signed agreement. An expected selling price is not money paid or credit available today.
Can I use the proceeds toward another trike?
Yes, consignment can be part of your upgrade plan. We’ll confirm the qualifying upgrade, the 65% owner share and how sale proceeds are applied in writing. Your old trike must sell before consignment proceeds are available.
What if I’m outside California?
Start with the form and photos. If your trike is a fit, we can help arrange pickup through a third-party carrier. We’ll confirm availability, packing, battery-shipping requirements and your approved costs before booking. Transport costs are deducted before the proceeds are split.
What if my trike doesn’t sell?
Before you commit, your agreement will set out the listing period, price-change approval, withdrawal terms and responsibility for return transport. We don’t promise a sale price or sale date.
How is a trike prepared before listing?
Accepted trikes are assessed before listing, with agreed preparation and any known condition issues documented. Any coverage offered with a particular trike will be stated in writing with that listing and sale.
