The efficient and versatile Active Line Plus electric-assist drive mated to a 1 x 11 drivetrain (11 - 42 cassette / 44 tooth chainring) provides dynamic performance – guaranteeing an authentic riding sensation with minimal pedaling resistance. It delivers active and sporty acceleration even at low cadences, offering powerful assistance as soon as you step on the pedals. In addition, the system’s multi-sensor technology and fast information processing ensure optimum interaction between you and your eCAT.

Who the eCAT 5.5.9 is for

This one's for the rider who still wants the long ride but doesn't want the hills, the headwind, or the next-day ache talking them out of it. The Bosch assist gives your legs a hand when you need it and stays out of the way when you don't, so getting on a trike isn't quitting the ride. It's how you keep doing it. If your back, knees, or balance pushed you off an upright, the recumbent seat does the supporting and the motor does the rest.

The 5.5.9 frame folds in half down to about 46 by 33 by 30 inches, so it rides in the back of an SUV or hatchback instead of staying home.

Frequently Asked Questions

It runs the Bosch Active Line Plus motor putting out up to 50 Nm of torque, paired with a 400 Wh battery. That's good for a max range of around 62 miles depending on the assist level you ride in and the hills you take on.
Bosch gives you four assist levels, from Eco for stretching the battery to Turbo for the steep stuff, and it helps you up to 20 mph before it eases off. You're still pedaling. The motor just takes the sting out of the hill and the headwind so you ride longer.
Yep. The frame folds in half down to about 46 by 33 by 30 inches, and there are roll wheels on the back of the seat so you can move it around once it's folded. It fits in the back of most SUVs and hatchbacks.
That's exactly what the recumbent seat is built for. It cradles your back and butt instead of perching you on a little bike seat, and the seatback adjusts between 44 and 51 degrees so we can set the recline where your body wants it.
