Each of TerraTrike's tandems is designed to meet the needs of different riding styles, and are well suited to accommodate nearly any pair of riders. The Rover Tandem is a life changer for many couples who want to get out and ride together, as well as parents or relatives of people with adaptive needs. The high seat and generous weight capacity (500 lbs.) of this tandem make it accessible and comfortable. It comes equipped with an independent pedaling system (IPS) and can be broken down for storage and transportation.

For two riders who'd rather go together

This one's for the pair of you. A spouse who wants to keep riding side by side. A rider and the person who steers when balance or eyesight makes solo riding tough. A parent and a kid who needs the support up front. Two recumbent seats, a 500-pound combined limit, and an Independent Pedaling System so one of you can rest while the other keeps the cranks turning. Nobody's left at home, and nobody's giving anything up.

It comes apart for the car

The Hi-Ten steel frame is built to take two riders, and it still breaks down at the coupler so you can load it in the back and bring it wherever you want to ride.

Combined, the two seats are rated to 500 pounds. That's the highest weight limit of any tandem TerraTrike builds, which is part of why it works for so many different pairs of riders.
That's what the Independent Pedaling System is for. Each rider has their own drive, so one of you can coast or rest while the other keeps pedaling. You're never forced to match each other stride for stride.
The captain up front does the steering and braking. The stoker in back just pedals and enjoys the ride. It's a common setup for couples, and it works well when one rider has trouble with balance or eyesight and wants somebody else handling the controls.
It's a long trike, but the steel frame breaks down at the coupler so you can shorten it to fit a hatchback or SUV. If you're not sure it'll work with your vehicle, that's a good thing to bring up on a Dream Trike Session and we'll talk it through.
The Rover Tandem runs an Enviolo Cargo internally geared hub. There are no gears to click through. You twist to make it easier or harder, and it'll even shift while you're stopped or loaded down with both riders aboard.
