The efficient and versatile Active Line Plus electric-assist drive mated to a 1 x 11 drivetrain (11 - 42 cassette / 44 tooth chainring) provides dynamic performance – guaranteeing an authentic riding sensation with minimal pedaling resistance. It delivers active and sporty acceleration even at low cadences, offering powerful assistance as soon as you step on the pedals. In addition, the system’s multi-sensor technology and fast information processing ensure optimum interaction between you and your eCAT.

Yes, and that's the point. The Bosch Active Line Plus is a pedal-assist motor, not a throttle. You pedal, it adds power on top of what you put in, up to 20 mph. You set how much help you want. On a flat day you might leave it low and barely notice it. On a hill or into the wind, you bump it up and the climb stops being the thing that ends your ride.
The Bosch 400 Wh battery has a max range of about 62 miles. Real range depends on how much assist you lean on, the hills, your weight, and the wind. Run a higher assist level all day and you'll see less. Keep it low and use it when you need it and you'll stretch it out. For most riders that's plenty of trail for a day and then some.
No. It's a 1 by 11 drivetrain, so there's one shifter and one set of gears, no front derailleur to fuss with. The steering, brakes, shifter, mirror, and the assist display all sit right at your hands. You're not reaching or leaning to run any of it. If shifting is the thing you're worried about, this is about as simple as gearing gets.
The Expedition is built on Catrike's Spaceframe, TIG-welded from aerospace-grade aluminum at their factory in Orlando. The interlocking triangles make it light and strong at the same time. The whole trike comes in around 35 pounds with a 275 pound rider weight limit, and the frame is built to carry a load for long-distance touring, not just a quick spin around the block.
Yes. Most bike shops won't touch a Bosch e-system, and that's exactly the kind of work we do. We're trike-only, so the motor, the battery, the firmware, and the long chain run are all things our techs see all the time, not once a year. If something needs attention down the road, bring it in.
