Beautifully integrated into ICE trikes, the Shimano STEPS Electric assist systems give the push you need to explore further with ease. With the integrated 250w motor mounted at the front of the trike, the battery mounted under the trikes seat, a handlebar-mounted computer and controller for easy access, and a neat, well-protected wiring loom, the whole system blends in and keeps your trike looking as great as ever. Available in two models and two automatic electronic gear shifting options that can let you simply pedal and go or change gear at the push of a button.

Who the ICE Adventure is for

This one's for the rider who wants to keep touring, not just circle the block. The Adventure sits up higher than most trikes, so getting in and out is easier on your back and knees, and you can see over the hedges and the parked cars. Indirect steering means it tracks straight and turns light, so even on your first ride it feels natural. If your body has changed but your itch to get out and ride a real distance hasn't, this is your trike.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big a rider does the ICE Adventure fit?

The Adventure handles riders up to 275 pounds, with an x-seam from 37 to 48 inches, so it covers most body types. On a Dream Trike Session we'll check your numbers against it before you buy.

Will it fit in my car?

Yep. The Compact Flat Twist fold takes it down to about 35 to 42 inches long in under 30 seconds, no tools, so it drops into the back of most hatchbacks and SUVs.

Is the seat actually comfortable for a longer ride?

That's the whole point of this one. The Ergo-Luxe seat cradles your back and adjusts to four recline positions from 38 to 51 degrees, so you dial in the angle that lets you ride for hours instead of miles.

Can I get it as an electric trike?

You can. The Adventure takes a Shimano motor with up to 85Nm of torque and a 630Wh battery for the hills and the longer days. We'll talk through whether you need it on your call.

Is it hard to steer or shift?

No. Indirect steering keeps it light and predictable from the first ride, and we can set you up with gearing that matches where you ride. If shifting worries you, ask about the automatic hub option.

ICE adventure HD. Great for a heavy rider.

I have a history of back and ankle pain. But in the week I've had this bike I've already gone on four rides of at least 10 miles. I fully feel like I have my ability and love of cycling back. The trike is sturdy, easy to steer. The included flag and mirror have given me confidence both on roads and multiuse paths. It was quite the investment, but so far I am very happy with it and look forward to a couple decades of cycling.

Catrike Dumont is a great recumbent

I tried out a recumbent at Laid Back Cycles and I was sold. I ordered my Catrike Dumont (in purple which is a gorgeous color) and have had many hours of enjoyment with it. I pull a dog cart with our dog is able to go with us. With the power of an e-bike I am able to go up the steepest hills pulling her 65 lbs. of lazy Dobie body. The staff at Laid Back Cycles provides excellent customer service.

Husband with Parkinson’s & his ICE trike

My husband gets great exercise riding his ICE trike. Bicycling is recommended for Parkinson’s patients but over time his balance got bad and his two wheeled bike just wasn’t safe. The guys at Laid Back cycle set up the perfect recumbent trike for him by adding adaptive pedals that held his feet on. The ICE sits higher up than my Catrike Dumont so he is able to mount and dismount with ease. It also folds up and we can put it in our Jeep when we travel in our motorhome along with my Catrike that folds up too. His ICE recumbent keeps him active and that is a good thing. Laid Back Cycles is a great shop. The staff really knows recumbents. They have been so helpful with keeping our bikes in tip top shape.

I now own an ICE Adventure RS with a Steps assist and Hub gears that help me up some of our steep hills with ease.

I ride an ICE Adventure HD26 and am really pleased with it. It has a pedal assist electric motor.
